Sharyne Fraser, RM
My deep connection to birth is rooted in my rural upbringing. My pioneer great granny had the distinction of being a community midwife. My parents were born at home on their family farms in northern Alberta, and I first learned about the wonder of birth observing the life cycles in nature living on the farm. The profound experience of birthing my children inspired me to become a midwife.
When I am not in Calgary working with a terrific group of midwives, I am experiencing the Arctic as a faculty member of the Nunavut Arctic College. I have a unique position teaching Inuit students the art and science of midwifery in the first midwifery education program in Nunavut.
My diverse professional career as a midwife, nurse, counselor, and educator has contributed to my ability to give attentive, compassionate care in a variety of settings and communities. I anticipate long lasting connections and celebrations with the families and midwives associated with Birth Partnership Midwives.
